We are in the hectic holiday season, but the AFPVO Board wants to take a moment to thank all of you for your support of the Pro Vita Community during 2015. Thanks to your generosity, we recently forwarded another $4500 to Romania to be used in the completion of the Teen House/Social Center in Valenii de Munte. See the latest pictures of the construction on our website – www.provitacharity.org. That brings our support to $25,000 since August of 2014.
In a recent conversation with Mihail Tanase, one of the Directors of Pro Vita, we learned that both the lack of funds and skilled workers have slowed the construction progress, but he is hopeful that the interior work can continue through the winter months with completion now scheduled for Spring 2016. Frank and I will travel to Pro Vita in late May to work and meet with the Pro Vita staff to help plan their future construction priorities.
We have met with the three Romanian Orthodox churches in the metro D.C. area and are working with their members to increase their involvement with AFPVO’s activities. We encourage you to reach out to the Orthodox churches in your communities as well. Please contact me if you need brochures for spreading the word about AFPVO and our mission.
As you respond to the many end-of-year charitable donation requests, we hope you will consider including Pro Vita in your personal giving plan. The Pro Vita community has over 500 “beneficiaries” (children and adults) who must be housed, fed, clothed, and given medical care every day.
We wish you all a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The AFPVO Board – Fr. Sean Cavanaugh, Chairman; Donna Shelton, President; Frank Doe, Treasurer; and John Griswold, Director
