No, AFPVO has not taken a vow of silence! And we have good news to share — one of our long-time donors and the congregation of St. Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church in Falls Church, VA recently made very generous contributions to AFPVO, and we will send another $5000.00 to Mihail Tanase and the Pro Vita Orphanage shortly. This brings our funds raised since May 2015 to almost $14,000. Thanks to everyone for your continuing generosity.
St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Episcopal High School, Alexandria, VA once again sent 13 students and 3 staff members to work at Pro Vita during Spring Break. The SSSAS team painted and planted at the orphanage as well as working and playing with the younger children and the teenagers. A well-kicked soccer ball overcomes all language and cultural differences!
On May 25, President Donna Shelton and Treasurer Frank Doe will travel to Valea Screzii to spend 10 days working at the Orphanage and discussing future plans and priorities with Mihail and Melanie. We will take lots of pictures and update the website gallery upon our return. It’s been four years since we worked at Pro Vita, and we are excited to see the changes, especially in the children we met in 2012.
We will inaugurate our 2016-2017 fund-raising campaign once we are clear on the most important building goals for Pro Vita, so stay tuned!
Please contact us ([email protected]) if you have any questions about the work of AFPVO or are interested in volunteering at Pro Vita.
Happy Spring!
